“Knowledge is meant to be shared, not hoarded”

Dr. Perenack has always enjoyed being an educator, whether it was teaching piano and art lessons to kids in his teens, or proctoring students in basic sciences while in professional school. It was a natural fit for him to join the teaching staff full-time at the LSU Health Sciences Center after completing his cosmetic surgery fellowship training in 2003. A career in surgical academia has many perks, chief among them is the chance to work day-in and day-out with some of the best surgeons in the country who shape the field. Dr. Perenack was honored to be the director of LSU’s residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from 2005 until 2014. During that period he also served as section chair in facial cosmetic surgery for the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon’s national statement on Parameters of Care. He also served on the national Committee for Residency Education and Training that helps shape the accreditation standards by which residency programs in OMS are judged. Dr. Perenack served as president of the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons from 2015-2016.

It has been his distinct pleasure to collaborate with the editors and other surgical authors on over 20 book chapters and journal articles in the medical literature. The opportunity to speak internationally and chair numerous symposiums and meetings on facial cosmetic surgery has been probably more enriching to me than any of the attendees. In 2018, at Williamson Cosmetic Center and Perenack Esthetic Surgery, we have been excited to offer a one-year fellowship training position in facial cosmetic surgery.
